As far as recoil...
As far as recoil absorption it's everything you hope it will be. I'm an older guy and shot 35 rounds with my 30-06 and shoulder felt great. No bruising as with my factory pad on my Tikka T3x with a factory synthetic vsx camo stock. My dislike with the pad is the way it fits to my stock. As far as being the same size and shape it is excellent; however, the factory pad has a recessed edge that fits inside the hollow synthetic stock that provides support to the thin stock material. With the factory pad, a hard bump to the side of the stock at the rear will have support that will assist in preventing the stock from cracking, etc. The Limb Saver pad simply fits butt up against the stock without having the recessed edge that fits inside the stock end. I thought of returning but decided to keep because of recoil absorption. I use the pad for high volume bench shooting, but when hunting season comes around I put the factory stock back on so my stock end has more protection.

Absolutely works...
Absolutely works great. I have some torn ligaments in my neck, and even with the lighter recoiling rifles, I put limbsaver in everything now. Even an AR. It's tolerable without them, but it's better with them.
