I do not recommend...
I do not recommend this rifle. Great concept, poorly executed with safety concerns. My Shedhorn was delivered undamaged with super fast shipping thanks to the staff at Buds. Per the manual, before firing this Muzzleloader initial cleaning requires removal of the breech plug. The plug on my gun was so difficult to remove it required a vice and a long handle wrench. It required so much torque that when I finally broke the plug loose the barrel popped out of my padded vice and left scratches on the barrel. Reassembly was another challenge. It required proper timing of the plug. The instructions in the manual give almost no info on how to do that. That process of trial and error took some time to get it just right. Then the side plate screws kept popping out of place. When I tightened the front screw the back would pop out or vice-versa . Once those challenges were overcome I took the gun to the range. After the first and only shot the side plate popped off at the rear and I noticed the breach plug was loose. I know for a fact I did tighten it securely (I was able to wiggle the barrel and could see that the plug was loose). To correct this issue required removing the barrel and plug from the stock to tighten. This meant going through the motions with the side plate reassembly over again. This gun has been a royal pain. I called Traditions and they requested I return the firearm which I have since done. Waiting to hear back from their warranty department. Also the sights on my gun was way off with the windage set all the way to the left as far as it could possible go. Thats the way it was delivered. The owners manual recommends the breech plug be removed when the gun needs to be cleaned after firing which means going through the hassle of timing the plug so that it lines up correctly with the nipple groove in the stock. I believe for the price you can do better.
