I have a 10.5" 5.56mm...
I have a 10.5" 5.56mm AR pistol, and noticed that when I was in an indoor range where the lights were rather dim there were times that the upward muzzle blast coming from the standard A2 Birdcage flash suppressor was blinding (ironic, I know...). Additionally, the blast coming from that short barrel is absolutely deafening. I began to research ways to reduce the impact of flash and noise on the shooter (not worried on the impact down range), and discovered blast cans. There are a lot out there on the market, but the MI seemed a great option due to the price, the fact it came with a crush washer, and the MI reputation. This product was easily installed, but I did notice that when installing this product using an AR tool/wrench, the aluminum got marred by the tool. That is because when torquing an aluminum product with a steel tool, aluminum will loose every time. Either don't torque it down as hard as I did, or be prepared to have some marring. I just went over the damage with a black sharpie and it looks fine. Effect of this product is as I had hoped. It dramatically reduced visible flash and deafening sound to the shooter, and to those shooters standing on either side. All that flash and noise is effectively directed down range. Didn't notice any negative impact on recoil given that it is used with a 5.56 that has little recoil to start. If you're looking for a blast can, I think you can't go wrong with this Midwest Industries product. Why pay more?
