personally I have never had to use one of these so in my opinion I find this more as an aesthetically pleasing part to match your other sexy Strike Industries parts I'm sure without a doubt if I needed to use the forward assist it would function as it should. That being said it was a very easy install and the overall look of it is perfect. SI and buds customer for life!
