The kit includes a thread-protecting cap to help keep the threads clean and undamaged when no accessory is installed.

Springfield Armory...
Springfield Armory makes some of the highest quality stuff for the price. Only drawback to this one is that it sticks way out in the XDM elite compact. I haven't found a threaded barrel for the compact model anywhere yet.
