Now I have something...
Now I have something to go with my 5.7 X 28 pistol but with a 50 round magazine it's gonna be WAY more expensive to play with.....lol As far as Buds, they really rock.

The upper is well made...
The upper is well made and well designed. Mated easily to a mil-spec AR lower (I used an Aero Precision X15). Fired ~ 130 rounds through it, and it felt great! Low recoil, good groupings. And then I had an issue; one round (Fiocchi Hypervelocity ammo) sheared the neck off of the casing, and left it in the chamber. With the magazine-over-bolt design, there was no indication that my next 7 rounds were fired out of battery (until I examined the casings afterwards). The 8th out of battery round ruptured its casing, and destroyed the top-mounted mag. I contacted AR57.com, and they responded that there had been a few similar incidents reported. It isn't clear why the casing sheared, but they have redesigned the bolt to prevent the out-of-battery condition. They provided me with the revised bolt, and everything seems to be working great. I have not experienced another sheared casing to test the mod, but you can visually detect the change (they restricted the amount of the firing pin "butt" presented to the hammer, to ensure the hammer is coming in "flat" at 90 degrees). I had 3 misfires in 200 rounds, 2 of unknown cause, 1 a light-strike, possibly caused by the shortened firing pin. Overall firing was still great; this is a light, snappy AR platform. Other thoughts: I don't love the bolt lever, but it is functional, and non-reciprocating. Just like a PS-90, mag changes are slow. This is an excellent upper for lefties, as the ejection is straight down. I have added a hollowed out AR-15 PMAG as a brass catcher, and that works great (requires a little trimming at the top for bolt clearance) To summarize: it's fun, unique, and well made. I like the ability to mate with the lower of choice, and there are plenty of ways to upgrade and accessorize.
