Using on a Mossberg...
Using on a Mossberg 590M shockwave that I keep for home defense. Mounted the item and turned it on: the beam was already split giving me two red 'patches' instead of a dot. Off to a great start. Instructions indicate beam splitting could occur if the lense is fouled, so I cleaned lense and got a dot and a patch. The instructions also indicate that the factory zero is set at 50 feet, so I went to the range and put a target out at 50 feet. Couldn't see the dot (or the patch) on the target. I could clearly see the dot at about 10 yards and closer. That's a really awesome laser sight: your target has to be so close that aiming almost isn't necessary before you can see it. I then noticed, before I pulled the trigger, that the barrel was pointing so far to the target (at 10 yards) that I would have been firing into someone else's lane. So much for factory zero. Oh well, I can adjust that, I think to myself and then go to fire and just enjoy a little range time. Nope. The new cross-pin that you have to install is screwing with the safety on my weapon. I had to fight for about 10 seconds before I could get the safety to disengage. I am sure a home invader would gladly wait the additional ten seconds for me to screw around with my safety before letting me defend myself. Last, but not least, after managing to fire one (1) round of Hornady critical defense 12 ga 00 buck, the red dot disappeared completely and I was left only with the red 'patch' which was nearly invisible and - at 10 yards - had me aiming so far to the right of my target I would have been shooting the walls of the range (earning me a $180 wall strike fee and a ban from my range).\\r\ I probably would have gotten more utility from taking the 174 $1 bills I paid for this junk and putting them up as targets and just practicing raising and firing my shockwave. This sight is a piece of garbage, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all. It was an absolute waste of money.
