I like this as an RMR...
I like this as an RMR available red dot, but was a little disappointed that it's longer than a standard RMR cut by about 2 paint thicknesses. I know it removes the warranty, but I bought this to use on a firearm with an RMR cut and didn't want to spring for a Trijicon. I used a diamond file and removed the paint from the front and rear and maybe 10 thousandths of an inch of aluminum and it now fits the cut. I used a black Sharpie to color the aluminum and you cannot really tell it was modified when mounted. The dot is great at about the 5th reduced brightness setting and is very sharp and small. In lower light times, you can also drop to about the 7th reduced brightness setting and it is a great size for home defense at night. I haven't tried it on a bright day, but I think the highest or 2nd highest will work well in sunlight. I actually like the fact that this doesn't auto-compensate like some of the higher end ones. In the pistol I mounted it, it sits low into the slide cut enough that it allows to co-witness the iron sights through it. I'm planning to run some more tests on this, but would tell TruGlo that if they want this to be a really great product, they should definitely reduce the overall footprint length by about 30 thousandths to fit into flat wall RMR cuts better.
