I was looking for a...
I was looking for a carry pistol and got distracted looking for another 1911 in .38 Super. I have a bunch of 1911s and only 2 in .38 Super - a Special Combat Government and a highly polished (don't ask me why) Colt Custom - and I figured a spare couldn't hurt. When I saw this Gold Cup Trophy and the price, I had no choice. I'd rather have a factory blemish than settle for Gold Cup Lite, and I'm glad I made the purchase. This pistol is my new favorite. It makes me look like a better shot than I actually am, and I don't know how, but I'll take it. I've run 150 rounds through it, and it was a little finicky with my initial rounds (these were failures to feed on hand loads that work well in the Special Combat Government). It wasn't a big problem, and a little coaxing got most of the rounds in and out the business end. I've since worked up new loads with Hornady HAP bullets and a C.O.A.L. of 1.210" and the pistol just loves them - no more failures to feed. The target above is 45 rounds of the HAP at 15' shot this morning, and I'm very pleased. As far as the blemish is concerned, I haven't seen it yet. I would have no reservations buying another Colt 1911 BLEM from Bud's. The purchase process is straightforward, too. I love my Gold Cup Trophy .38 Super BLEM.
