I have close to 4000...
I have close to 4000 rounds through this gun, a combination of PMC (horribly dirty), Magtech, and Fiochi. I've only fully stripped it down twice and it ran nearly flawlessly just throwing more oil on it after 200 rounds. Slide to frame fit is good with no noticeable play or significant rattle. Trigger area of the frame could use a bit of cleaning up to get a trigger with a little bit less slop but the break is crisp and smooth. The sights are functional and will get you on-target, but they're not great if you're going for bullseye shots. Glow from the 3 dots is adequate for a darkened house. It is a negative that the sights are Kimber specific and limits what can be installed aftermarket. The beavertail grip safety could be higher, which is why I'm going to have an Ed Brown one fitted eventually. I made a few modifications to it to suit my taste and smooth out recoil more. The biggest change was a 28lb recoil spring and it still flings brass across the range. Supposedly a really heavy spring like that puts a lot of wear on the gun, but as I said above it's run thousands of rounds with no issue. Another negative is that the mainspring housing is plastic, so plan on replacing it with a steel one if you want sharp checkering. The frontstrap checkering is very good, except for the very top portion (2 lines worth) where the checkering machine didn't make a solid connection. The grips it comes with are rubber, so I replaced them with some VZ Operators.

This is my first...
This is my first Kimber, and I have to admit that I was very reluctant to spend nearly $1,000 for a pistol. However, two of my friends are Kimber snobs, and having shot theirs I thought I'd take the plunge. After some research I decided on this model mainly because I thought it would be a one-time purchase, and I wanted to ensure that I got something that I would not regret later saying "I wish I had gotten night sights, etc.". I received the pistol from Bud's after a moderate wait on backorder due to the recent panic buying. And it was a few weeks until I had a chance to take it to the range this past weekend. Admittedly with my vision (I shoot w/o my glasses typically) my marksmanship is not the greatest, although I usually get close enough to do the job. Shot groupings were consistent, recoil was very manageable, and performance was flawless after 150 rounds. The only thing that I really do not really care for is the Kimber mag, which I find someone difficult to load. Fortunately, I have four others that I had purchased at the same time, which proved well worth the extra money. While this is not my favorite gun (Beretta and FN are still way up there), it is definitely a great shooter. And I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality 1911. When I say that it's not my favorite, it is due to the overall 1911 design and not the gun itself. I just find disassembly/reassembly and cleaning a bit tedious compared to more modern designs. But if you are in the market for a 1911, buy it. You won't be sorry.
