I've owned 1911's, at...
I've owned 1911's, at least 25 of them, going back to my Viet Nam carry gun, the government's of course. This one is a cosmetic standout, beautifully finished and presented. The accolades stop there. Mechanically it's reasonably laughable for the price. Out of the box an average of 5 pulls on my Lyman digital trigger pull gauge yielded 6lbs 1 oz, with a completely dead, wooden feel. Unacceptable to me in a $500 cheapie, let alone one with an MSRP 3 times that. The blued hammer's sear interface was childishly unfinished, then blued over. The sear was equally amateurishly prepared, certainly by machine. An EGW 10211 trigger kit solved that, but only after a struggle. Post kit installation, the pull dropped to 2lbs 13oz, with a clean take up, and crisp release. Problem solved. Many people value an ultra tight tolerance 1911 for target accuracy. The barrel fit to the slide and the bushing fit to the barrel have proven, in my experience, more important than slide to frame fit. Disassembly proved challenging, as the very tight fit of all the pieces made the pistol very difficult to handle without marring it. Getting the safety lever out and back in was needlessly difficult, accompanied by the safety tube spring flying out, despite its proper kink, was not helpful. The slide stop is equally difficult, without incurring the dreaded "idiot scratch". As a display piece or to show off to your friends, the pistol is very impressive. As functioning machine, not so much. I have yet to shoot it as my expectations are very low compared to other 1911's in my collection, so for now it's a safe queen, perhaps destined for the auction block. You only get one chance to make a first impression...

This is simply the...
This is simply the most beautiful 1911 I've ever seen. The fit and finish is truly magnificent. The pics don't do this justice at all. Not only that, you can feel how well it's built just by holding it. It's a dense 1911. After about 200 rounds it loosened up in a good way. It has some bite to it when first shooting but it'll tame out I'm sure. The only downside is the trigger is a little stiff, but nothing to worry about.
