Very well-built and...

Very well-built and useful device for cleaning or armoring of many different kinds of guns. The plastic mag well locking device is not what I would call "rock solid" for doing any type of precision or staking work on AR-15s but it still works just fine for what I stated earlier. The fact that it's adjustable to move out of the way for other guns or totally removable is nice. I love the parts trays included that snap on to wherever you want on the frame - very useful for basic takedowns for cleaning and maintenance on ARs, bolt-actions, shotguns or pistols. The tray pockets are just the right size for bolts/BCGs, pistol slides and barrels, and firing pins of most common guns as well as some smaller pockets to keep track of your pins and springs. The pair of vise jaws are both on mounts that are adjustable along the frame as well, and the mounts use large screw handles to tighten down in place for more stability. The jaw mounts have no height adjustment, but the feet of the frame itself are adjustable so you can just use those to adjust for height or leveling if need be. The jaws are a really nice balance between soft and solid too. I would confidently use the vise jaws to mount a scope on a bolt-action or a red dot on an AR or pistol. I'm taking gunsmithing courses and currently in a Ring Lapping Lab so we'll see how the scope mounting goes soon! As I said earlier, the plastic mag lock device is a bit wobbly as you would expect the marriage between plastic and metal to be, but it's useful enough for most AR-15 work outside of drilling or staking. I suppose it's possible to tap a threaded hole into a metal mag lock and mount that onto this vise as well for more stability (and/or different caliber lowers). Other than that one very slight downside this vise is outstanding!
