Excellent pistol, just...
Excellent pistol, just enought bark and recoil to make you notice! I like this Ruger!! Perfect size to shoot the .30 Carbine and not that much recoil or noise. I wish I would of bought on of these 20 years ago!!!

Barring the oddball...
Barring the oddball handgun caliber of this gun, there's not a whole lot that can be said about the Ruger Blackhawk. I have shot these in numerous calibers over the years from 22 to 44 mag in the Super Blackhawk. All have been straight and reliable. Mine is the .30 carbine. Two thing to be aware of in this caliber are 1) It is LOUD and can have quite a muzzle flash depending on the ammo, and 2) The cheapo Wolf ammo in the steel case will give you fits. DON'T use it! I am in no way opposed to Wolf for some of my other guns, but when I use it in this one, the case swells in the cylinder and ejecting the spent case is a royal pain. If you have to have a revolver in .30 carbine like I did, you have no doubt seen your limited choices, two from Taurus and the Ruger's Blackhawk. I would have rather had a Taurus for the double action, but the price and availability was somewhat prohibitive. "Settling" for a Blackhawk was incredibly easy.
