You will laugh, you...
You will laugh, you will cry, you will lose 10 pounds with this rifle! All kidding aside, there are no superlatives with which to praise this rifle highly enough. Before acquiring this gun a few years ago, I had owned numerous other semi-autos, such as SKS carbines, Kalashnikovs (in various calibers), and FALs. Although they were all quite reliable, each one of them would at least occasionally have a weapon-related malfunction of some kind. I had heard that the AR-series of rifles in 7.62 NATO were not very reliable, but after three and a half years with my trust AR-10, shooting in 3-gun and NRA High power with dust and debris covering the weapon, magazines and ammunition; taking pinpoint accurate shots on deer with iron sights from 400 yards after lying prone in pouring rain and sleet for hours; and carrying it through miles of forest in the heat and humidity of the NC summer for fun shooting with friends, this weapon has NEVER ONCE had ANY type of malfunction, whether caused by magazines, ammunition (and I have used some old military surplus stuff), weapon, or lubrication; all causes of problems in my previous rifles. I get consistent 1 MOA accuracy with this weapon using Federal American Eagle (0.3 +/- with premium stuff) using iron sights, and even after installing Armalite's free float handguard, this rifle, with an RRA LAR-15 stand alone A2 rear sight, and Armalite's A2 front sight, a red dot, a tactical sling, and an empty magazine, this rifle only weighs 9lbs 9oz. Not only does that 1-3 pound weight difference feel huge compared to my (former) M1A and FALs, but the recoil on this thing is in a class by itself. I honestly have an easier time keeping this on target during rapid fire (same rate of fire) than I do with my various 5.56 AR-15 carbines. This feature helped me take two large deer, both with heart shots at 80 yards, before the second one even knew what hit the first. Don't be dissuaded by the lack of aftermarket magazines, either; Armalite's are the absolute gold standard of AR magazines, and are sturdy and reliable, and can tolerate longer cartridge overall length than the designs for the inferior .308 ARs like DPMS and S&W. All this praise is coming from someone who even has his own 1959 Armalite / Artillerie Inrichtingen Portuguese-model AR-10. Although we purists generally like to think nothing can touch our originals, my favorite gun is and always will be my modern Armalite AR-10A4F! P.S., if anyone is interested in seeing the work I have done on mine, you can find a post with it here, at the bottom of the page, posted by "AR-Tenner": http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_62/207412_Lets_see_your_AR_10s.html&page=67

Armalite produces a...
Armalite produces a very well made 7.62 firearm. The operation is very smooth. The trigger is crisp with no "slop" in the pull. The rifle is assembled with smooth, tight tolerances on the moving parts. The rifle furniture all fits snug, too. Sure, you will pay a little extra for this kind of quality, but absolutely no buyer's remorse on Armalite products. Bud's pricing and delivery make it even better. If you like quality craftmanship at low prices, buy your Armalite rifle at Buds. The money you save at Bud's will help buy that scope and mount!!!

I'm about four years...
I'm about four years late on my review, as I bought this rifle from Buds in 2009. I have fired 395 rounds through this rifle on four range trips since then, and it is top notch. Top notch shooter, top notch reliability, very accurate, and a very well finished, well made rifle. Rock solid, an American made rifle to be proud of. And of course nobody makes it easier to order than Bud's. I have an Eotech on mine and it puts Radway Green British surplus ammo right on target. Get one, you won't regret it.
