Life in the country...
Life in the country demands protection against rodent infestation. Those cute furry little fellows are disease bearing flea carrying vermin. The .22 Long Rifle is worthless for sure kills and the rim fire magnums do not justify their outrageous cost. The .22 Hornet is reloadable and potent. As Robert Ruark said: "Use enough gun." The .22 Hornet is the way to go when dealing with invasive rodents. Put that optimum caliber in a marvelous rifle and you have the CZ 527 Lux. Sweet little killing machine. Just the ticket to keep the ground squirrel droppings from building up on the cushions of the patio furniture. Usefulness aside, it is just plain flat out fun to shoot. Terrific workmanship and classic style. Mechanically perfect. Pride in ownership prevails.

I am an older guy that...
I am an older guy that has been shooting all his life. I have always read how the 22 Hornet is a finicky round, and inaccurate. But after always wanting one I stepped out on a limb and purchased the CZ 527 in 22 Hornet from Buds. I kept my expectations realistic. I went ahead and purchased my dies, powder, and bullets. I had an old Leupold fixed 8 power scope to place on the rifle. I used CZ 527 rings just to keep everything CZ. I hand loaded 5 rounds using the Hornady 35 grain vmax, 5 rounds using Hornady 40 grain vmax, 5 rounds using Nosler 40 grain Varmeggedon HP, and 5 rounds using Winchester 46 grain HP. I used Lil Gun powder and Hornady brass. After getting it on paper using some cheap factory rounds I started shooting for group. Folks, I have shot many rifles over the years. But it is rare when I have the problem of not knowing which load to go with because all 5 shot groups were no bigger than a dime at 100 yards! I don't believe I have ever had this problem in many years of reloading. I would not hesitate to purchase this rifle. The rifle is well made, pretty wood, and has very useful open sites should you go without a scope. Kinda glad I waited this long to purchase a 22 Hornet. I got a great rifle!
