This Ruger American...
This Ruger American Rimfire rifle is what I want for rimfire target competition. The .22LR. is the right caliber; The 18" barrel balances well; The adjustable stock is a nice plus; But mostly the target peep and globe sights work perfect for what I need and at a reasonable price.

Beautiful little .22....
Beautiful little .22. Bought it for my son starting 4H shooting. The compact is great for a smaller stature kid but even a taller kid can feel comfortable with it. I purchased the longer stock from Ruger.com for$25 but as I said the compact stock it comes with will do for larger kids as well. We haven't shot a variety of ammo to see what it really likes but so far plenty accurate! You will not be disappointed. Ruger needs to make a left handed version to compete with Savage though

Excellent quality,...
Excellent quality, very well built. My only complaint is that even with the compact stock, the rear sight is still installed too far forward for smaller shooters. My daughter shoots a Savage Mark II FVT also with globe diopter sights and even with the full size stock, the sight was set back far enough to work well for her. This Ruger American fits me better than it fits her, so she will still be shooting her Savage. If there was a sight mount that would bring the sight all the way back to the rear of the receiver this would be a home run rifle for small shooters. Instead they have to stretch their necks forward for proper eye relief.
