Savage Axis II Compact...
Savage Axis II Compact 6.5 Creedmor Buds had excellent price and free shipping to my local FFL dealer. Product arrived promptly and securely packaged. Axis is nice looking and feels solidly built. Shorter barrel and buttstock a perfect fit for me as a senior hunter at 5' 4". Acutrigger is crisp and creep free.Magazine is easy to install or remove and fits flush...a real plus for one-handed carry when hunting.Rifle is decidedly front heavy...a plus for holding steady on target. Was disappointed by how stiff the cocking lift is for the bolt. I could not operate the bolt without taking rifle out of shooting position and really holding tight with the left hand. A check on line found many others reporting this same issue. I have installed a longer, after market bolt handle that together with with some light lube to cocking button/spring helps a lot. Have not fired rifle yet. Majority of on line reviews report modest recoil and excellent accuracy.

Santa Claus bought...
Santa Claus bought this gun for my daughter. It was her first youth rifle for deer hunting. There can't be a better smoother low recoil youth gun on the market. It shoots straight and super easy to use. She took right to it and within 5 shots was zeroed in. This was the first rifle she ever held and shot on her own and is not scared of it one bit. My next gun will be 6.5 Creed for myself. Buds as usual was awesome to deal with. Highly highly highly recommend this gun for any youth wanting to adventure into hunting. It can be modified down the road to an adult gun. I expect her to have it for a long time.
