I had been anticipating the dual caliber version of the rifle for some time, and now that I have received it am somewhat disappointed. The action is not the easiest to manipulate and feels a bit rough and sloppy. It is certainly not remotely similar to the smooth action of a bolt action rifle. While it may improve with time and use, my initial impression is not the best. Quality control is also disappointing. The threaded muzzle-end of the barrel is not precisely finished and one supplied thread protecting collar rotated on and off with difficulty and like the action, felt rough and poorly finished. The trigger, in my opinion is truly awful. The safety trigger lever is narrow, sharp and uncomfortable to operate. The pull is about 5 pounds with a lot of travel and a vague feel. The trigger housing is sealed and will not allow replacement of any of the components. I am only hoping that the rifle will actually accept an aftermarket Ruger 1022 trigger. The supplied .22 caliber magazine is fitted with a magazine well spacer so that it properly fits into to .22 WMR sized magazine well.. Although the rifle is supplied with one .22 LR and one .22 WMR magazine along with two extra .22 LR magazine spacers, I have found no source of extra magazine well spacers and Hammerli has not responded to my requests for a source. Without those, Ruger .22LR magazines cannot be used in this rifle. On the positive, the rifle is suppled with a very nice, fitted rigid case with cut outs for the rifle and both barrels.
