This is a very beautiful rifle. It took me a while to get used to the Grade AAA French Walnut woodwork, but now I'm glad that I got it. I really like it! The checkering is cut quite nicely and it looks great. The bolt action is very smooth and effortless. The trigger is just like the advertisement says; zero take-up, zero creep, zero overtravel. My trigger breaks consistently at 3 lbs., 12 oz., which encourages a smooth, firm trigger squeeze. I mounted a Leupold VX-3i 6.5-20 x 40 mm EFR scope using Talley integrated mounts/rings. After 5 shots, the rifle was zeroed at 200 yards and the bullets were chasing each other through the same hole. I had to wait quite a while for this rifle to become available, but the wait was well worth it.

Beautiful rifle, the Winchester super grade 30-06 with a french walnut stock is unbelievable in appearance and function. Shot it and zeroed for 200 yards with a night force 3-10SHV scope (balances great on the winchester) and is deadly accurate for hunting Michigan Whitetails. The model 70 pre-1964 action is very smooth, and the receiver already drilled to accept almost any manufacturers scope mounts or Talley/Weaver/Pictatinny rails out there. \\r\ The price at Bud's was the best anywhere, BETTER than Cabela's, Bass ProShops, Cheaper than dirt, GunBroker.com, Gander outdoors, or Davidson's gun Genie.\\r\ Bud's preferred FFL license dealer list makes it very easy to purchase and send to your local area. I called the dealer first because I've never done a transaction like this before; but you don't have to, the FFL dealer said as a preferred dealer with Bud's, they already have an arrangement to accept the gun and then notify the purchaser of it's arrival. \\r\ \\r\
