Beretta A300 Outlander Synthetic

After shooting an A303...

After shooting an A303 I had for the last few years, I found myself always struggling with the lack of heel drop it had. And as I retired and began skeet shooting more, I decided to go back to a 12ga semi-auto mainly for the greater shell/load options available. I studied quite a few manufacturers guns and was impressed with the A300 Outlander synthetic for several reasons. One reason was the stock adjustment capability straight from the factory and two was the 24 inch barrel. I shot a Remington Special Field 12 ga for many years that had a 21 inch barrel and loved the point ability. So I settled on the A300 and ordered it from Buds. When I got my hands on it, I realized the heel drop was considerably lower than my old A303. A half inch difference which made the A300 far easier to get on target without seeing so much vent rib. Being in my early sixties and now having to wear prescription eyeglasses, I put a Hi-Vis comp sight front bead on it just so I can keep up with it, even though I don't rifle aim it and I shoot with both eyes open nowadays. Age does have it's drawbacks (LOL). After I cycled a couple hundred rounds of all sorts of loads, I definitely fell in love with this gun. It shot and spit out whatever I put in it, right out of the box. The kick is not bad but I did install a Limbsaver Airtech slip-on to it because of my LOP. The gun did come with the stock spacers to adjust the LOP, but I couldn't get it quite like I wanted it with the factory butt pad. My LOP sweet spot is 14 1/2 to 14 3/4 inches. At that LOP and having the factory stock spacer and shim (65mm), I have right at 2 1/2 inches of drop at the heel. For me, this setup is some kinda sweet and makes this model A300 Synthetic 24" barrel a really comfortable gun to shoot. Y'all who have been shooting for a while know what I mean....when you can just throw the gun up and it is right there where you want it...bingo! I got this gun about a week before Teal season this year. After a little skeet practice, I took it hunting the first day. A nice group of Teal came in a little hot over the decoys, and realizing they weren't going to light, I threw that A300 up and made a flying triple with it. You couldn't pry this gun out of my hands now (LOL). I really don't have to say anything about the reliability....its a Beretta! After researching a good handful of other gas semi-autos, I am definitely glad to have settled on this A300 model....It just simply fits.
