The Pelican 1720 Protector Long Case is engineered for secure transport and maximum protection for long equipment. Built from Ultra High Impact structural copolymer, it is watertight, airtight, dustproof, and resistant to corrosion and chemicals. A 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) neoprene o-ring and ABS latches provide a tight seal, while the automatic purge valve helps equalize pressure after changes in atmospheric conditions.

Like all other Pelican...
Like all other Pelican products this case is extremely rugged and I'm sure I could run it over in my car and not damage it. All the strength does make it quite heavy but it has wheels on one end and enough handles to make it easy to get around with. The factory included foam does leave a little to be desired, the pick-and-pluck style foam would probably work for a while but I prefer a stiffer/denser foam type so I ended up swapping it out with some custom cut pieces from Gunformz which is a tougher 2lb polyethylene closed end cell foam and haven't looked back. This is the 3rd Pelican case I own, the others being a 1300 and 1450. As a brand they really can't be beat if you want an indestructible case, I think even the TSA and airline baggage handlers would have a hard time destroying any guns/whatever you put in these cases.
