I wanted a nice...
I wanted a nice looking inexpensive 9mm 1911 to add to the collection as I had a RIA 9mm that was a great shooter for me. I decided to give the American Classic a try. It definitely looks nicer than most of the RIAs (to me) but unfortunately I'm having the same experience as the reviewer below. I've had several FTFs no matter the magazine used. I troubleshooted by using the recoil springs from my Dan Wessons, Kimber, and Springfield 9mms but it kept happening. I tried various ammo, didn't matter. Ugh. This model does not use a ramped barrel like most 9mm 1911s do, but as it would feed okay for a few rounds from time to time - I'm not sure what to think. Making a call to Eagle Imports, see what happens. Just bummed as it is a nice looking and feeling gun. Accuracy was good, and very soft shooting. Hopefully they'll get it sorted out, but If the feeding issue isn't fixed it'll be gone I hate to say it, but if you're looking for a lower priced 1911 I'd buy a Rock Island instead. 5 stars for appearance, 4 stars for value, 1 star for performance.

AS they say "you get what you pay for!" I wanted a good-budget 9mm 1911 and after seeing good reviews on YouTube decided on the Metro Arms American Classic II. After unboxing, the fit and finish seemed to confirm that I made a good choice. That good feeling lasted until shooting the first 8 rounds in which I experienced 2 failures to feed. Tried changing to a high-end Magazine hoping that would solve the problem but it had no effect. The Gun is now at my Gun Smith's Shop where I'll spend even more money attempting to solve the problem. Bottom line is – Should have just bought a Colt! In the end, it will cost the same.
